ISO 45001

ISO 45001 is an occupational‑health‑and‑safety‑management‑system standard published by the International Organization for Standardization. Its core objective is to control occupational health and safety risks through systematic management, prevent work‑related injuries and occupational diseases, protect the rights and interests of employees and interested parties, ensure compliance and deliver continual improvement. It applies to all persons accessing the workplace, including employees, temporary workers and visitors. Suitable for organizations of all sizes and across all industries, ranging from high‑risk manufacturing and construction to low‑risk service sectors, it allows the system complexity to be adjusted as required.

Built around the “Plan‑Do‑Check‑Act” cycle as its core framework, the standard incorporates the following key elements:

First, leadership and commitment: top management shall bear ultimate responsibility and ensure the management system is integrated into business processes;

Second, planning: focus on hazard identification, review of compliance obligations, risk assessment and objective setting;

Third, support: cover resource provision, personnel training, communication‑mechanism establishment and documented‑information management;

Fourth, operation: implement risk‑control measures, change‑management procedures and emergency preparedness plans;

Fifth, performance evaluation: assess effectiveness by means of monitoring and measurement, internal audit, management review and incident investigation;

Sixth, continual improvement: enhance system effectiveness and prevent recurrence of problems.

ISO 45001 certification delivers substantial value to organizations:

It systematically raises the standard of occupational health and safety management and reduces accident rates;

It meets compliance requirements from clients and tender issuers and strengthens market competitiveness;

It cuts operational costs by lowering risks of work‑injury compensation, production‑stoppage losses and regulatory penalties;

It fosters a safe working environment and improves employee satisfaction and productivity;

Thanks to its identical High‑Level Structure with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), multiple management systems can be conveniently integrated to boost management efficiency.

Whether deployed in high‑hazard sectors or ordinary office environments, ISO 45001 enables organizations to establish a dynamic, efficient occupational‑health‑and‑safety management model that supports a balanced approach between safety assurance and business development.
