Algerian Certificate of Conformity (COC) is an official compliance document mandatory for goods exported to Algeria. Issued by third-party certification bodies authorized by the Algerian National Institute of Public Health and Scientific Research (INSPQ, Institut National de la Santé Publique et de la Recherche Scientifique), it certifies that products comply with relevant Algerian technical standards or equivalent international standards, and serves as an essential customs clearance document.

Certificate Features

• Validity Period: The Algerian COC certificate is valid for one single shipment only and cannot be reused for subsequent consignments.

• Customs Clearance Requirement: Upon arrival of goods at Algerian ports, customs authorities will inspect the COC certificate. Shipments without a valid certificate or with inconsistent certificates risk detention, fines or repatriation.

Notes

• Validity of Test Reports: Test reports submitted for COC application are generally required to be issued within 1 to 2 years (subject to specific requirements of certification bodies). Retesting is mandatory for expired reports.

• Marking Requirements: Exported products shall meet Algerian labelling regulations, including product name, model, manufacturer information, country of origin, safety warnings, etc. French labelling is required for certain product categories.

• Selection of Certification Bodies: Applications must be processed via INSPQ-accredited third-party organizations (e.g. SGS, Intertek). Certificates issued by unauthorized bodies will be deemed invalid.

• For certification arrangements, advance communication with authorized certification bodies is recommended to confirm precise requirements based on product types, so as to ensure smooth procedures and avoid delays to customs clearance.
