The ISO 14000 series consists of a set of international environmental management standards developed by Technical Committee 207 (TC207) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) starting in 1993. It covers

core research and practical topics in international environmental management, including Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Environmental Auditing (EA), Environmental Labelling (EL), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Performance Evaluation (EPE), Terms and Definitions

(T&D). It provides governments and various organizations worldwide with unified and consistent international standards for environmental management systems and products, as well as rigorous and standardized audit and certification procedures.

The implementation of ISO 14001 by enterprises is essential for energy conservation, consumption reduction, waste recycling, lower environmental protection expenditure and cost control. By establishing and implementing an environmental management system,

enterprises can reduce the generation and discharge of pollutants, boost waste recovery and reuse, save energy and raw materials, avoid fines and pollutant discharge fees, and thus cut costs.

countries were taken into full consideration to maximize the universal applicability of the standards.
