ISO 14064‑1:2018 Greenhouse gases — Part 1: Specification with guidance at the organization level for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals

ISO 14064‑1 consists of 10 chapters, together with 3 normative annexes and 6 informative annexes. ISO 14064‑1 specifies the principles and requirements for the design,

development, management and reporting of an organization‑level greenhouse gas inventory, including requirements for defining organizational and reporting boundaries for greenhouse gases, quantifying greenhouse gas emissions and removals, and identifying organizational mitigation actions,

and provides guidance on classification of direct and indirect emissions as well as guidance on how to select, collect and use data for quantifying direct emissions. In addition, this

standard also sets forth requirements and guidance for quality management of inventories, reporting, and responsibilities for verification activities.

ISO 14064‑2:2019 Greenhouse gases — Part 2: Specification with guidance at the project level for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emission reductions and removal enhancements

ISO 14064‑2 specifies principles for the quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission‑reduction or removal‑enhancement activities at project level, descriptions of GHG projects, and requirements for GHG projects.

ISO 14064‑3:2019 Greenhouse gases — Part 3: Specification with guidance for the verification and validation of greenhouse gas statements

ISO 14064‑3 consists of 10 chapters, together with 1 normative annex and 3 informative annexes. This standard specifies in detail the principles and requirements for verification and validation of GHG statements related to organizational GHG inventories, GHG projects

and product carbon footprints, and defines the verification or validation process, including verification or validation planning, review procedures, and evaluation of GHG statements for organizations,

projects and products.

Improve consistency, transparency and credibility in GHG quantification, monitoring, reporting and emission reduction;

Identify and manage GHG‑related liabilities, assets and risks;

Support the design, development and implementation of comparable and consistent GHG programmes or schemes;

Facilitate trading of GHG allowances and credits;

Promote the formulation and implementation of organizations’ future GHG management strategies and plans;

Provide relevant capabilities to track performance and progress in GHG emission reduction and/or GHG removal enhancement.
