Inspection During Manufacturing of Industrial Equipment & Products

Manufacturing process inspection refers to quality verification activities throughout the complete product production flow, covering all links from incoming raw materials to finished product delivery. Its core objectives are to prevent non-conforming products, identify quality deviations, ensure products comply with standards, and provide data support for process optimization.

Core Inspection Links

  1. Incoming Quality Control (IQC) for Raw Materials / Purchased Components: The first line of quality defense. For raw materials, purchased parts and outsourced components, verify consistency of specifications and models with purchase orders, inspect appearance defects and performance parameters (such as metal hardness, electrical performance of electronic components), check qualification certificates and other supporting documents, and make judgment in accordance with purchase agreements or national standards.

  2. In-Process Quality Control (IPQC): Core of process control, covering semi-finished goods and work-in-progress at each process. First article inspection confirms correct process parameters prior to mass production; patrol inspection conducts periodic random sampling for quality, equipment status and operator practice monitoring; dedicated inspectors are assigned for key processes to carry out high-proportion sampling and parameter recording; non-conforming products shall be promptly marked, isolated and corrected.

  3. Semi-finished Product Inspection: Targets unassembled modules, frames and other semi-finished items. It tests dimensional accuracy, assembly integrity and functional compliance (such as module power-on test, component fit clearance measurement) to guarantee assembly stability.

  4. Final Quality Control (FQC): Final verification before delivery. Conduct full inspection on appearance (coating, marking), recheck critical dimensions, perform functional and performance tests (such as equipment load operation, safety withstand voltage test), and inspect packaging protection and completeness of packing lists.

  5. Outgoing Quality Control (OQC): Verification prior to goods dispatch. Confirm consistency between finished products and orders, conduct sampling inspection on packaging integrity, and check attached documents including certificates and user manuals as well as storage and transportation requirements.

Common Inspection Methods and Tools

Calipers and coordinate measuring machines are used for dimensional inspection; visual inspection and color difference meters for appearance check; oscilloscopes and compression testing machines for performance testing; hardness testers, ultrasonic flaw detectors and other non-destructive testing equipment are adopted for material inspection.

Key Principles

Prevention First: Identify quality risks in advance via first article inspection and in-process patrol inspection instead of rework after defects occur;

Standardized Operations: Inspection procedures, acceptance criteria and record forms shall be documented to ensure traceability of inspection results;

Full Staff Participation: Production personnel shall implement self-inspection and mutual inspection, combined with dedicated inspection, to establish the quality defense line of the "Three-Inspection System";

Data-Driven Approach: Fully record inspection data of each link, generate quality reports, and provide basis for process optimization and quality improvement.
