ESD certification means that an enterprise passes the certification audit conducted by a third-party certification body recognized by ESDA and/or IECQ to prove compliance with the requirements of ANSI/ESD S20.20 and/or IEC 61340-5-1 standards.

IEC 61340-5-1 is an electrostatic protection management system standard published by the IEC. It was first released as IEC TS 61340-5-1:1998 on December 15, 1998, updated to IEC 61340-5-1:2007 on August 9, 2007, and the latest edition is IEC 61340-5-1:2016, revised and issued on May 27, 2016.
